Season Preview

Hello, and welcome to the preview of the 2207 season of the FX400 Anti-Gravity Racing League. This year's top-tier AG racing series will bring you around the world for the first time since the F5000 League. But before we get started, let us give you how the teams are going to perform in the upcoming season. So, here's the pre-season power ranking for the FX400 AG Racing League.

1. AG Systems

There is no doubt here. Even though their 2206 FX300 championship title was the result of the disqualification of Triakis, that doesn't matter at all. Just look at how AG Systems nailed it in the FX350 League. They smashed the competition and are now looking very confident. But to better consider, there is one crucial factor that allowed AG Systems to become one of the top teams of the FX300: The racetracks were pretty technical, and that definitely favored the team's naturally nimble craft.

You guess it right. Much like the FX300 craft, the new AG Systems craft for the FX400 League stays true to the team tradition of agility. Great acceleration, great maneuverability. As if that wasn't enough, the craft is also stronger than before. With an improved shield technology, it is the toughest AG Systems craft to date. It's still not the fastest craft on the track, though.

Even then, I'm still very sure AG Systems will be able to keep up with their peak performance into the FX400. Nothing can stop this team, apart from those dreaded straights. Of course you should be afraid of AG Systems right now. Be very afraid. No, really!

2. EG-X

Do you find this surprising? I don't think so. Even with the insufficient the pre-season testing data, I can already assert that this mysterious team has the potential to be the dark horse of the FX400 League. Their performance in the FX350 League is no slouch, just to say. Quite how EG-X managed to perform so well in the FX350 is up to anyone's guess.

Speaking of the craft, I'm afraid I can't tell you much about it. EG-X is very secretive about their craft, but I've heard that the craft has got very good thurst force. That's all, because I won't cover their pilots for now.

To summarize it all, expect EG-X to become the one to watch this season. Oh, did I mention that the team was formed by the merger of two of the teams of the F9000 League?

3. FEISAR

If I have to describe how FEISAR has been doing so far since the FX300 League in only one word, here's what I say: Really good! There is nothing else that can be said of the European team's good performance in the FX300. They are past their F9000 dominance, and today they find themselves onto the podium, i.e. win a medal, no matter how hard they're trying, no matter how technical the track is. Even if they were to consistently finish third in races, FEISAR would still finish third in the given season. Indeed, the team had always finished third in each and every FX300 season, but that won't stop them for the FX4000 season

True, the FEISAR craft may be good on the paper, but upon closer examination, you'll find something really good with it. Don't be fooled by its outstanding handling, nor its incredible thrust force, nor even its great shield energy. Let me tell you why. It's because this craft has one ridiculous yet fatal weakness that kills all its flairs off: Abysmal top speed, as has always been the case of all FEISAR craft in the past, apart from the team's wildly successful F9000 craft. As a result, this craft is nowhere competitive enough to be any reliable. In short, only in case of the FEISAR craft, performance necessarily translates to reliability, but FEISAR is working on increasing their top speed

4. Qirex

That's right, Qirex is still quite a force to be reckoned. They may already be past their golden age that occured before their takeover by Tigron, but things are looking good for Qirex. Very good indeed. The team emerged as one of the top teams of the FX300 League, and went on to perform very well in the FX350 League. So, it's no surprise that Qirex is poised to make into the FX400 League right away.

The absence of Auricom won't matter at all, for what truly matters is that Qirex has got a solid craft. Build by Quantax Dynamics, the one behind the legendary Qirex F5000 craft, this new craft, modelled on exactly that F5000 craft, boasts an advanced protective shield technology, but is now more controllable. Sure, its thrusters are still a bit weak, but that won't be a big issue, unlike the FEISAR craft's top speed. The team has got an equally solid pilot roster too. Talk about Nadia Elenova.

In my opinion, Qirex will continue to do well into the FX400 League. Nonetheless, I'm also worried about Auricom, as the American team has revealed nothing about their plans for the FX400 League so far. So, what could be worse?

5. Piranha

Just because they have the fastest craft here doesn't mean Piranha will rank high in this power ranking. Needless to say, Piranha had a troublesome performance in the FX300 League, and this seems to have been carried over into the FX350 League. Given the technical nature of Makana racetracks, this was kind of expected. But with AG racing taking on the whole world, this may eventually change.

The Piranha craft itself is such a handful to control. It's slow to accelerate, and it doesn't do corners very well either. Fortunately though, it is quite stable and now also very tough. Besides, it is right now the fastest craft available, but Piranha had better watch out for Icaras. Speaking of the pilot roster, I won't tell you just yet. Piranha is pretty secretive about their pilots, and that's why they won't reveal them on a whim.

Still, I personally don't think Piranha will do that well in the FX400 League, but prove me wrong. With the track no longer being just the technical ones like in Makana, the team will be able to prove their worth in the sport once again.

6. Assegai

Some kind of underdogs here, right? Not so much as far as Assegai's performance in the FX300 League is concerned. Their craft was very quick off the mark, and this made the team one of the top teams of the FX300. Assegai was very happy with this, but also far from satisfied. Their fans appear to have been missing the legendary Assegai F7200 craft.

And Assegai responded by building their new craft. But it had gone horribly right. The resulting craft was very agile, and yet very frail too. Handling was really good, but shield energy, not so much. Not a surprise their performance in the FX350 League was somewhat mediocre. Fortunately, Assegai has found out how to make their craft tougher.

With this, Assegai is ready to take on the competition in the FX400 League. So let me remind you, just because they did not perform that well in the FX350 doesn't mean Assegai won't stand a chance to win this year's championship.

7. Triakis

This team doesn't need any introduction. Ever since they were disqualified from the 2206 FX300 championship for the use of an illegal deceleration device, Triakis had been determined to win back the respect from the audiences and the opposition alike. However, they were almost always nowhere to be found during the FX350 League. Maybe they were up to something, maybe not.

Triakis also had to work hard to get their pilots to deal with their craft's weak thrust force and sluggish handling. Sure, the craft is fast enough to catch up with the majority of the competition, but it is not the best at accelerating or cornering. Thankfully though, their craft is still the toughest on the grid. This will come in handy when the race suddenly gets violent.

To be honest, I have no idea whether Triakis would be able to make up for the controversy that cost them their 2206 FX300 championship. Maybe we could see this team come out as a Cinderella winner.

Closing Comments

Before I'm ending this post, there are still four teams still pending participation in the FX400 League. One of them is the new team representing the Mirage Anti-Gravity Excellence Centre, or MAGEC for short, tentatively named Mirage. Another is Icaras, as their craft is still under development, but they've already promised that it will be the fastest craft on the track. As for Harimau, they're still focusing on their tiger repopulation program, but the program has recently captured media attention. And as of this writing, hardly anything has been heard of from Auricom.

That's all for now, thank you and stay tuned.
