Track 04 is the file name for an unreleased racetrack found in Wipeout 2097. It was intended to be a final secret track upon completing the game, but eventually got cut due to an inability to complete the track in time, as well as draw distance limitations.
Description[]
The track could be described as a long oval with extended straights, many chicanes, and two jump sections. The first jump is a drop angling for near 90 degrees, and the other jump is very long, perhaps a prototype to some jumps found in Wipeout 3. The track layout itself is possibly a lengthy precursor to the LS105 and LS106 drag tracks in the Japanese version and Special Edition of Wipeout 3, with the oval layout being the only retained trait.
Since the track remains in an unfinished state, it has no speed or weapon pads and lacks scenery, apart from two untextured structures - a cylinder enclosing the first jump; and a building with a red light, a T-shaped tower, and what appears to be a satellite dish, which the second jump flies directly into. The second jump also features floating landing lights leading to its entrance. The rest of the track is entirely enclosed.
The track was speculated by some fans to take place somewhere outside of the Earth. But according to an interview with a member of the development team, this final track was supposed to be located in a "canyon forest".
