The Piranha P.666 v.Prototype is a ship featured in Wipeout 2097. It is the only unlockable ship in the game and, as such, it is statistically the best one. This ship also appears in Wipeout 64 as the Piranha II, still an unlockable ship with identical stats, but with a slightly different design.

Overview

This prototype craft is the ultimate AG racer, perfect in every way. It is extremely fast, extremely agile, and has nearly impenetrable shield technology. No other craft in the F5000 League could stand up to this beast in a straight race. However, in order for it to exhibit such incredible speed and agility, Piranha had taken the drastic step of designing it without a weapons system, as it would have imbalanced the craft and reduced its aerodynamic capabilities. Despite such impressive stats, the P.666 is recommended for experts only, as the sheer speed and sharpness of the turning and airbrakes require very quick reactions and a solid knowledge of each track.

In Wipeout 64, the craft is called the Piranha II. It features a split-nosed hull design and is equipped with weapons technology. It still is a secret craft with all-perfect stats in the game, and therefore, extremely high performance, as its speed and maneuverability is as extraordinary as ever, allowing it to excel flawlessly in every event type, be it races, Time Trials, or weapon challenges.

Trivia

• The "666" in this ship's name is believed to be the "Number of the Beast" as described in the thirteenth chapter of the Book of Revelations in the Hebrew Bible.
  • The Tigron BULL-666 series in Wipeout Fusion also has "666" in its name. Tigron's second pilot Sveta Kirovski also has 666 in her pilot ID.
• Despite lacking weaponry of any kind, the machine gun cheat can still be applied to this ship in 2097.
• Like its predecessor, the Pir-hana Prototype, they both are known for sacrificing certain functionality in the pursuit of enhancing the ship's performance.
• Piranha's Swiftkiller series, which is featured in the F9000 League, possesses similar speed and agility to the P.666, but its shield technology and braking power aren't as strong.
