Wipeout Central

The Nx1000 was the very first anti-gravity craft ever developed. It was a result of Pierre Belmondo's extensive research into anti-gravity technology.

It made its first and only known flight on 14 April 2035 in the Nevada desert, and was piloted by Belmondo himself.

Background[]

When we gathered in the searing heat of the Nevada desert, we expected perhaps a crudely built prototype model and some embarrassed shuffling on the part of the discredited scientists. Instead we were met by the Nx1000 anti-gravity vehicle which flew across the special track so smoothly and with such speed that jaws promptly dropped, and from somewhere across the hills came the sound of words being eaten. It was the government officials who looked uncomfortable as the world's press asked, "Who are the fraudsters now?"

Overview[]

Nothing is known about the craft's capabilities. As the first anti-gravity ship however, it is presumed to be below-average by the future standards set during the Anti-Gravity Racing Championships of 2048. After all, the Nx1000 was never specifically designed for racing, and therefore lacked weapons technologies of any kind. Its sole purpose was demonstrating the application of anti-gravity technology.

Trivia[]

  • This ship is not playable in any way as it was made for the background story only. The picture shown above is in fact a concept art piece from Wipeout Pure.
    • The concept art image depicts the ship with a single-thruster design producing a violet-shaded vapor trail. Ships in Wipeout 2048, chronologically 13 years later, have a double-thruster design that emits red-shaded vapor trails.
  • The ship is a reference to the 1886 Benz Patent Motorwagen, which is said to be the first-known automobile in history.
  • The ship may possibly be a precursor to AG Systems ships, as it was developed, designed and piloted by Pierre Belmondo himself. He would establish the company five years later, even the design of the team's FX-era ships appears to have been inspired by this.
