Several years after their release, various Wipeout games have had third-party mods.[1] Some of these mods may serve as some kind of unofficial expansions, with the addition of content and features not normally available in the base game, even fixes made to the base game.

Wipeout Pure[]

It is now possible to convert DLC packs between different regions for Wipeout Pure, allowing them to be used in the game regardless of regional version, but in order to do so, one has to utilize cwcheat via the CFW mod or the PPSSPP emulator to disable signature checks. This particular mod gave way to the "Special Edition" mod for the game, as shown below.

Special Edition[]

An unofficial "Special Edition" mod for Wipeout Pure was first released in 2022, featuring every previously-released downloadable content, including the region-exclusive content packs, as well as the ability to race every track in the game in Zone mode. Fixes were also made to the base game, such as the addition of the Japanese language setting, the restoration of the thruster bar and 60 frames per second on all game modes.

The Special Edition, however, still requires a PlayStation Portable running CFW with signature checks disabled via the cwcheat, in addition to the base game installed into the device. The mod also works on PPSSPP, provided that signature checks under cwcheat are disabled. It is also compatible with a modded PlayStation Vita running Adrenaline hacks.

Wipeout Pulse[]

FX350 Edition[]

An unofficial "FX350 Edition" mod for Wipeout Pulse was first released in 2021. This mod attempts to emulate the FX350 League by adding all 32 racetracks from Pure and introducing a new AI difficulty that is significantly more challenging than Hard, referred to as "Elite". Other features of the mod include the ability to use the Shuriken and Repulsor weapons in normal races and tournaments. However, possibly due to a bug, the Quake weapon is unavailable in the expansion tracks added with this mod.

The FX350 Edition is only available on the PlayStation Portable version of the game, as well as PSP emulators such as PPSSPP. Furthermore, this mod was made exclusively for the European version of the game in mind, and is thus incompatible with the US version. Like the Special Edition of Pure, the FX350 Edition is also compatible with a modded PlayStation Vita running Adrenaline hacks.
