The Mirage Mantis is a ship featured in Wipeout Pulse and Wipeout HD. An alternate version with improved shield appears in the Fury expansion pack.

Description (Wipeout Pulse)[]

Mirage expect to get off to a quick start in the FX400 League, with the United Arab Emirates focusing their efforts on delivering the most well-rounded ship available.

Overview[]

The Mirage is about as average as they can get. Solid in all areas, it is the ultimate all-rounder. This is the sort of craft where one can make all the difference against the more specialised opposition. While it does not demonstrate any weaknesses in any particular areas, it's definitely worth remembering the old saying, "A jack of all trades is a master of none."

Fury[]

The Fury upgrade pushes the Mirage craft to its limits. With a minor boost to top speed and thrust, on top of a much stronger shielding, the new Mirage can be considered a much more viable choice for any kind of race.

Trivia[]

  • This ship, especially its Pulse and HD iterations, resembles a praying mantis as its name implies.
  • If looked closely on the cockpit, it is suggested that the ship is to be manned standing up, with less conventional controls.
  • The concept model in Pulse features a much more radical overall design, with a single-hull appearance and the rear engine connected to the main hull by some kind of 'bridges'.
  • The Fury variant of this ship is the only one in the game to have an improved shielding.
