Challenge is a game mode appearing in Wipeout 64 and Wipeout 3. This mode features a series of challenges with varying objectives. Each challenge has a preset condition on which craft you control, where the challenge takes place in, and what speed class.

There are four different types of challenges. These are:

• Race (finish in top three)
• Time (complete one lap within a set time)
• Weapon (destroy a set number of opponent crafts)
• Combo (complete all three objectives at once)

Wipeout 64 also features Gold challenges, which are unlocked by gaining Gold on all challenges in a specific type.
