The AG Systems Prototype is a ship featured in Wipeout 2048.

Description[]

Channeling engine power from standard thrust into the airbrakes has created a machine that can spin faster than it can accelerate. Benefitting from double Barrel Rolls, extended Sideshifts, and being able to 'Combat Spin' in Races, makes this ship extremely unpredictable for the competition. No telling what the extreme changes in direction will do to the pilot, but rumor is that team AG Systems got through a large number of test pilots for this prototype.

Overview[]

You won't believe what this thing can do! The AG Systems Prototype is so agile that it's able to perform any difficult manoeuvre that no other ship could. Double barrel roll, tighter sideshifts, and even performing Combat Spins during Races, just to say. Even better, it has a super tight turning radius that no corner would mess with, so you can try this out in Zone mode if you want to. That's a plus, but there is a teensy yet troublesome problem – this ship has a really weak lifespan, despite being as tough as the FEISAR Agility or the Auricom Speed on paper. One hit from a Plasma will lead to an ugly danger for this thing, if not an outright elimination! So, whatever you do while in this ship, you'd better keep yourself out of harm's way and focus on racing. One more thing, the double barrel roll manoeuvre would require more airtime to pull off.

Trivia[]

  • Despite the ship's ability to perform combat spins in Races, it still cannot fire Quake head-on outside of Combat, likely out of balancing, so as to prevent Quakes from being abused in order to eliminate opponents.
  • Its firepower is the same as the rest of the other AG Systems ships (excluding the Fighter) at 6/10.
  • It is the only Agility-class ship that lacks the front airbrake flaps.
  • To counter its weak shielding, this ship absorbs more energy than every other ship.
  • Judging by its description, especially on the last sentence, it may be possible that this ship's sharp handling may pull off extremely violent G-forces beyond what any human pilot can normally withstand, even as far as its double barrel rolls, sideshifts, and combat spins, and the weak durability could also mean that all safety systems had to be sacrificed to achieve such a level of handling, which is why a lot of test pilots were probably required for its development and testing.
  • This ship, particularly its design, may have coincidentally foreshadowed the Bugatti Divo, which was also designed with agility in mind.
